Military Hearing Loss

“We’ve done our battling, we’ve been on operations, we’ve come home. People don’t see what we’ve been through”

We provide legal support for veterans and serving military personnel who have been injured in service and who may need to bring a case against the MOD to access compensation for their injuries and items such as hearing aids.

Military personnel are repeatedly exposed to loud noise during their careers, such as gunfire and bombing or from jet engines or other armaments. It can happen in training or in combat.

This can be sustained exposure over a long period of time or a sudden burst from a one-off incident.

As a result, they often suffer from noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus. This can last a lifetime and bring a premature end to their military careers or limit their future employment prospects when they eventually leave the service. It can also severely impact their personal and family lives.

The good news is that the MOD is now showing more willingness to acknowledge that exposure to noise in the military has been a cause of hearing loss and that people discharged after 1987 could be eligible for compensation.
